Rose Gerena, MSW, Supervisee in Social Work

As a dedicated clinical social worker, Rose merges empathy with evidence-based practices to empower clients on their journey to mental wellness. With a foundation in person-centered therapy, she prioritizes building a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. Drawing from internal family systems therapy, she guides individuals in exploring and reconciling internal conflicts, fostering healing and building trust in the core self.

 

Rose also integrates cognitive and dialectical behavioral techniques, equipping clients with practical tools to challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, and cultivate healthier coping strategies. Her approach is holistic, addressing a spectrum of mental health concerns with sensitivity and care. With a commitment to fostering autonomy and resilience, Rose partners with clients to navigate life's challenges, promote self-discovery, and facilitate lasting change. Through her compassionate and client-centered approach, she strives to empower individuals to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.

 

Rose has immediate openings for new clients, ages 18 and up. She provides virtual and in person sessions. She accepts self pay, Cigna, Optima/Sentara, Aetna, Anthem and all Medicaid insurances.

Andrea offers therapeutic services to assist individuals with life experiences within their own personal cultural values. She believes that it is important to have someone to help you gain perspective and make informed decisions while navigating the challenges of life. Andrea's therapeutic approach is eclectic, flexible, specific to and framed around the needs presented by the person receiving services. Her practice philosophy is founded in empowerment from a person-centered approach. 

Andrea received her Undergraduate degree from the Joint Social Work Program of University of North Carolina and A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina and her Master’s degree from the University of New England in Portland, Maine. Currently, while providing therapeutic services at Calm Water's Counseling, she is also an Adjunct Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University for the department of Social Work. Andrea has over 15 years experience working with clients of varying backgrounds and ages, presenting with diverse mental health issues. Some of Andrea's professional practice interests are individual therapy, group therapy, CBT, and DBT.

Andrea has immediate openings. She sees ages 16 and up for virtual sessions. She accepts self-pay, all Medicaid, Anthem, Aetna, Sentara and Cigna.

My treatment philosophy is person centered and predicated on the belief that each individual has the capability of healing themselves from life’s traumas and are the experts of their life experience. As a practitioner, my job is to work cooperatively and provide encouragement, support, accountability, and unconditional positive regard to my clients. I work primarily from a somatic, body-based perspective and combine this with traditional talk therapy to provide holistic, trauma informed care. I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults in outpatient and inpatient care, as well as experience as a former medical social worker helping those with chronic health conditions and transitions to end of life care.

I provide trauma-informed care, and I deeply listen to my clients and foster a safe, supportive relationship. I help clients develop self-awareness, mindfulness, and emotional regulation skills. I honor each individual’s unique goals and strengths, and I adapt my treatment approach to help them achieve their goals. As needed, I help clients address interpersonal concerns and build communication skills to foster deeper and more meaningful relationships with others.

 

I have experience treating clients with trauma, depression, anxiety, and many other mental health issues as well as with life transitions, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. I use various treatment modalities including somatic experiencing, internal family systems therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

Reaching out for help when you need it is not always easy. By searching for therapists, you have taken a big step towards feeling better and living with purpose. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that specializes in treating young adults who are transitioning into adulthood. In my practice, I always start with genuine empathy to create a safe, nonjudgmental space. My therapeutic approach is action-oriented and primarily present-focused. My eclectic treatment interventions pull from superhero therapy, adult play therapy, video game therapy, cognitive behavioral, and motivational interviewing perspectives. I empower my clients to achieve a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. The goal of our work together is to unlock best version of your authentic self. To assist with this process, I encourage methods of self-expression such as art, music, athletic competition and gameplay.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience working with people with mental illness, trauma, anxiety and self-esteem issues.  I provide trauma informed care where clients are provided a safe space in a non-judgmental, supportive environment. I am a EMDR therapist, IFS informed and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

I believe that where ever you are right now, you have arrived at honestly. My goal is to help you figure out where you want to go and help you develop the insight, plan, tools and resources so that you can bring out your healthiest best self.

I provide therapy to adults using various treatment modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), parts work, EMDR and mindfulness-based interventions. I tailor my therapeutic interventions to the client and their needs.
